I’m back again with another Top 5 Tuesday post, and today it’s all about my top 5 Essence products.
I don’t mean my top 5 of all Essence products in general, as I haven’t had the chance to try out every single product, but these are my top 5 products that I HAVE tried and loved. You can find Essence products in either Clicks, Dischem or Redsquare.
Gel Waterproof Eye Pencil R44.50
I first tried the shade 01 Black Blaze, and have loved this so much that I now have two more – I’m on my second Black Blaze, my third 06 Cocoa Bean (the dark brown), and just added 03 Urban Jungle -these liners are essentially gel liner in a pencil form. They’re smooth, super easy to apply, and last all day long without budging. You can smudge them out too, if you’re quick, so you can get a smokey effect before they set.
My only wish was that they had a plummy purple shade in this range.
This was sadly part of a trend edition that Essence sold between January and March this year. I now wish I’d bought a couple more of these sets, as the contour shade is the perfect colour (it looks quite warm in this photo, but it isn’t when you swatch it). You can see by the scratched case that this little gem has received a lot of love. I love the highlighter shade for every day use too, as it’s quite subtle, yet still provides that glow.
If anyone knows anywhere that still has some of these in stock, I’d be forever in your debt!
I have repurchased this product so many times that I’ve lost count – it helps to fill in my brows, keep them in place and provide some colour! I have always used the darker shade – 02 Browny Brows – which is perfect for me. It’s so unbelievably easy to swipe through your eyebrows, even when you’re in a rush, so you get some kind of definition.
Essence have since launched a third shade – it’s in-between this shade and the blond colour, so it’s perfect for those that needed something not quite as light or dark as the other two.
Eyebrow Gel colour & shape R57.95
One of the brand-spanking-new eyebrow products, I was initially a little unsure about purchasing this. It seemed so odd that they only launched one shade, yet now that I’ve tried it, I’m so in love with it! It defines and fills in your brows, and for me there’s no need to set with any other products, as it keeps my brows in place. I’ve used it on me and on several other friends with different skin tones and hair colours, and it’s worked so well for all of us!
I really hope that Essence will bring out some more shades in this gel though, as they really do need a darker one at the very least.
Eyeshadow singles from R38.95
I have several different shadow singles from the different ranges that Essence sells, yet these three have to be my absolute favourites. You can tell by the I <3 Nude case, that this gets used a lot (it’s great for in the crease, and you can even see the little dent in the middle of the shadow from where it’s been used). The I <3 Nude is in the warm brown shade, that no longer seems to be part of their stock – it appears they’ve discontinued this shade? There are still 5 of the 6 shades available, and they’re lovely neutral shadows.
The other two singles here are from the Merry Berry range that was sold between October and December last year, as part of their Christmas collection. I use the taupe shade 01 The Perfect Dress a heck of a lot more than the purple 02 The Masked Ball, as it’s an everyday colour, but I’ve used both quite a bit, and I love the colour and pigmentation of both.
What are your favourite Essence products? I’d love some suggestions!
