MAKEUP REVOLUTION CONCEAL & DEFINE

Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer #INSTAFAMINVESTIGATES

Welcome to my very first #instafaminvestigates review!  I have a wonderful group of ladies who I chat to on a daily basis (these girls know how to talk – I’ve once woken up to over 300 messages on our whatsapp group), and most of the time, it’s beauty we talk about.

We decided that we wanted to bring you a series of reviews, where we all bring our own opinions and findings on the same product.  It’s fabulous for many reasons: –

  1. While we all clearly have something in common, we’re incredibly different.  We have different skin tones, skin types and we all like different things.
  2. We are all INCREDIBLY honest, and will never compromise our integrity.
  3. We’re all passionate about the topics at hand.

Our hope for this series, is that we will bring you all a nicely rounded set of reviews that cater to everyone.  Oily skins, dry skins, combo skins.  Fair, medium and dark skins.  All honest reviews where we’ve put time and effort into trialling out a product so that we can give you, the consumer, reliable feedback.

Now, for this very first review, we haven’t all posted today – check back at a later stage by searching the hashtag #instafaminvestigates on social media, and you’ll see all of our reviews, and all of our social media pages.  Clicking follow on any of our social pages will also ensure that you never miss out on any reviews too.

There has been so much hype around Makeup Revolution launching in Clicks stores, so we decided to try out their infamous Conceal & Define Concealer and let you know our thoughts, as part of our first #instafaminvestigates post.  This product is being touted as a dupe for the Tart Shape Tape, and while I’ve never tried the Shape Tape, I do think that the offering from Makeup Revolution definitely sounds like a very similar product, but at a much lower price point.

PRODUCT

MAKEUP REVOLUTION CONCEAL & DEFINE

The Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer.

The Conceal & Define concealer claims: ⠀

  • a shade for everyone (25 shades ranging from fair to deep, with cool, neutral and warm undertones)
  • offer lightweight, yet full coverage
  • be long wearing
  • cover blemishes
  • even skintone
  • cover dark circles
  • be used to define and contour the face

I bought the shade C2, for fair skins with a yellow undertone.

Makeup Revolution is also cruelty free!

PACKAGING

Sturdy plastic tube, with a rose gold label and rose gold lid.  Decent size for a concealer.  The packaging also feels like great quality.

The large doe-foot applicator is also great, as you don’t need to double-dip on each application.

FORMULA

A thick and opaque liquid concealer.  Don’t let how thick it is fool you though.  This product blends out super easily, and you can barely feel it on your skin.  Definitely full coverage though!

WEAR

I found this wore exceptionally well throughout the day.  There was no fading, no cakey texture and minimal-to-no creasing.

We all have fine lines under the eyes (unless you’re 10, and then you shouldn’t really be rocking a full-coverage concealer in your day to day life), and if I don’t set my concealers with powder I will ALWAYS have a bit of creasing.  Some concealers crease more than others though, and this is definitely one that is on the minimal side (I know this, as I purposely didn’t set it with concealer one day).  When set with a good powder, this will stay looking pretty damned fresh until you remove it.

I also haven’t encountered any flashback when wearing this concealer.

WHERE AND HOW MUCH?

It retails for R104,95 at selected Clicks stores, or on the Clicks website HERE.

OVERALL THOUGHTS

MAKEUP REVOLUTION CONCEAL & DEFINE

Do I think that this concealer does what it claims? Yes! I think that a range of concealers this wide is amazing and virtually unheard of. The quality is fantastic and it wears exceptionally well. My only con is the amount of product you get. While the container seems large, and looks to be a very comparable size to my Maybelline Instant Anti Age Eraser concealer, looks are very deceptive. The Maybelline concealer contains 6.8g of product, while the MUR concealer is only 3.8g – literally half the amount! Even my Bourjois Radiance Reveal concealer, in a smaller tube, contains 7g of product.

REPURCHASE? ⠀

Would I repurchase the concealer? Yes! While it does contain a deceptively small amount of product, I only use concealer in small amounts anyway, and it is very affordable for such high quality. This shade was great as a winter concealer under the eyes, but I want to pick up C5 (light skins with a golden undertone) for the summer.⠀
